Connections Stella by DJ Forrest

It’s taken me some time to finally get to watch Stella, created by Ruth Jones, who also plays the leading role of Stella Morgan, Mum of three living in Pontypandy. It’s a fictional village in South Wales, where nobody’s life is secret, where a colourful group of individuals live, some as thick as mud and others as gorgeous as hell, and some you wonder how they managed to land in such a crazy place. But it’s a wonderful 45 minutes of hilarious comedy, with some serious drama attached and all with a cockin’ Welsh accent.

There’s a large cast of Who and Torchwood, where I spent most of the first series pointing at the screen shouting ‘there’s the Slitheen from Who, Jenny Flint, the lad from Torchwood From Out of the Rain, yes, I was a little annoying. Joshua dislikes my television viewing habits when he’s in the room.  But it’s true, there were so many familiar faces from Who and Torchwood that for the next few seasons I was wondering who I’d see next.

It was also a little difficult getting used to seeing Owen Teale playing a romantic fellow when I’d seen him in Countrycide as a menacing figure that would give you nightmares.

So while I watched the first series, I began to realise that I could cover a large portion of Connections just in that, but as the seasons progressed, and her eldest son became a civilised human being, not running with the bad boys and focusing on finding work and growing up, I discovered that there were a lot more cast coming in from the Whoniverse.

Ruth herself is no stranger to Torchwood, having played Nikki Bevan, mother of Jonah from Adrift episode.  Tom Price played another Andy, in much the same way as he played PC Andy in Torchwood, this time however as a lawyer in love with a married woman.

So here are the Connections for Stella. We’ve done the research so you don’t have to.
