Connections Last Tango in Halifax+ By DJ Forrest

Last Tango in Halifax is a romantic drama series about two childhood sweethearts Alan and Celia, who have been apart for 60 years and are reunited through Facebook.  It stars Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid as Alan and Celia, and was written by Sally Wainwright who also brought us Happy Valley
The series began on 20th November 2012 and was nominated for four awards in the 2013 British Academy Television Awards. The lead cast of Jacobi, Reid and Sarah Lancashire were nominated for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories, while the series itself was nominated for the Best Drama Series and won.  Sally Wainwright also picked up an award for Best Writer at the 2013 British Academy Television Craft Awards.

Last Tango in Halifax isn’t ready to head off into the sunset, even if their elderly cast may have headed off on their honeymoon, a fourth series is set to air at the end of 2015.  I for one can’t wait!

There is one rather noticeable reason why this was added to our Connection’s page this month and that being…yes you’ve guessed it, the rather large amount of Doctor Who cast and crew involved in the production.

It goes without saying that when I look down the credits list and spot familiar names I often smile and know what I’ll be researching in the coming weeks, and if anything it keeps those old grey cells in check during these long damp winter months.

So for those, who like me want to know just how many cast and crew were in a production, we’ve done the research so you don’t have to…well you can if you want, but we’ve done it all the same.
