Most of you are aware of the many conventions going on
all over the world. You have read the reports here, have seen videos online,
sometimes even been able to see whole panels on the internet or at least listen
to them.
I had the pleasure to attend FedCon XXII in May 2013 –
the con that got nicked as „BarrowCon“.
What you probably don't know is that the whole
convention got filmed. Every convention by the FedCon GmbH gets recorded and
the DVD team puts together all the material. They do interviews with the guests
and also add impressions.
FedCon XXII will end up on a total of THREE DVDs with
about NINE HOURS of material, including excerpts from the panels.
For a lot of the Con visitors it's a great opportunity
to revive the memories of those four days, for the people unable to attend this
is an awesome chance to get to know this convention and get to see what they
might have missed. Since not everyone is fluent in English a lot of people are
also very thankful that the DVD team adds German subtitles.
Unfortunately there aren't enough pre-orders for the
DVD for FedCon XXII – yet. The issue is that this isn't a commercial
production. A lot of work by volunteers goes into the DVD production – either
with filming into the middle of the night (the “Starship Troopers” screening
that Eve Myles and John Barrowman crashed ended at about 1AM and the parties
are legendary for ending in the early hours of the morning – this will also be
covered on the DVD) or with covering their booth at the con and also in
post-production: Adding the menu to the DVD and the subtitles, providing a
cover and not to mention the hours of hours that go into editing!
The three DVDs will cost 25 Euro (plus 4,50 Euro for
shipping – inside Germany it's 2,90 Euro for shipping.).
There's one request I have: If you want to pre-order
the DVDs please only do so if you are sure that you will buy them when they are
available.

Don't forget that the DVDs cover the whole convention
– so this isn't just Torchwood but also Star Trek, Stargate and a lot more!
It's a science fiction convention. I hope there will be some of the cosplay on
the DVD as well because they had marvellous people there dressed up as The
Doctor, a Dalek or the TARDIS!
I really hope that at least a few of you will be interested
in getting these DVDs and pre order – and with that help to ensure that the
DVDs will get made. The cost for the DVD is only covering expenses like
equipment, the production of the DVD and so on. This is non-profit as far as I
know and they have had losses on some DVD productions already, but with enough
pre-orders to ensure that the expenses are covered I'm optimistic that the DVDs
will be made.

Mal ehrlich, liebe Freunde, ich möchte euch wirklich bitten, diesem Aufruf zu
folgen.
Bisher wurden schlichtweg zu wenig Bestellungen aufgegeben, um überhaupt eine
DVD produzieren zu können.
Wäre das nicht ein Jammer, wenn es von der legendären "BarrowCon"
keine DVD gäbe?
Wie ihr wisst, waren die DVDs immer schon ein Teil des Ganzen und sie sind
wirklich klasse, einige von euch haben sie vielleicht auch erst zur FedCon
gebracht.
Also bitte unterstützt das Team von Intex Digital Sound, damit wir noch lange
Freude an dessen toller Arbeit haben können!
