Season 1 Episode 5 – Small Worlds

Well it is that time of the month again where we give you the lowdown on the locations used within the episode.  Unlike the last edition I have a couple more locations to write about this time.  In this episode we will be focusing on 3 different areas Penarth, Radyr and Cardiff City Centre.  By now you have read the articles on the fairies and there are 2 locations which we could not find the location for.  So if you wanted to go Fairy hunting in those woods I am sorry.  Due to some residential locations, I have decided not to give out the actual location, but just street names for privacy reasons.

The Paget Rooms, Victoria Road, Penarth CF64 3EG

This location is used for the scene of Estelle’s talk.  The Paget Rooms is a very old theatre situated in the heart of Penarth Town Centre. The Paget Rooms, built in the early part of the 20th century and now a Grade II listed building, came into public ownership in 1949 when the former Penarth U.D.C. took over the lease from Kibbor Cinemas Limited.

How to get to the Paget Rooms

Train

At Cardiff Central Train Station:

·         Catch the Penarth Train which leaves from Platform 7

·         Alight at Penarth

·         Come out of the station onto Station Approach

·         Walk straight ahead until you see Foxy’s in front of you (This is Victoria Road)

·         Turn left and keep walking along Victoria Road and the Paget Rooms is on your right hand side.

Plymouth Road, Penarth

This location is used as Estelle’s house where Jack goes to visit her with Gwen.   As this is a residential property, I will not give out the exact number but if you find it then you do.

How to get to Plymouth Road

Bus

At Cardiff Central Bus Station Stand JQ:

·         Catch the 92 or 93 Service

·         Alight on Windsor Road in Penarth

·         Walk to the roundabout in front of you and cross straight over onto Stanwell Road

·         Walk down Stanwell Road and take 3 turning left

·         You are now on Plymouth Road

This location is used as Jasmine’s House.  As this location is a residential location and someone lives in this house I won’t give too much away. thanks to Torchwood Locations for the info http://www.torchwoodlocations.com/map.php and if you do want to go there then please find the location on the map.  Maes-y-Sarn is off Temperance Court.

Bus

At Cardiff Bus Station Stand C3

·         Catch the Stagecoach 136 Bus Service (Half past the hour)

Radyr Primary School, Park Road, Radyr, Cardiff, CF15 8DF

(DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION DURING SCHOOL TIME)

This location is used as Jasmine’s School where the storm stats to brew in the school yard. 

How to get to Radyr Primary School

Bus (25 and 45 minutes past the hour)

At Cardiff Bus Station Stand E2

·         Catch the Cardiff Bus Service 62 or 63 Danescourt

·         Get off Radyr Primary School

Cardiff Market, St Mary’s Street, Cardiff

Cardiff Market is used as the location when the Fairies attack Mark who tries to abduct Jasmine.  Here is some information about Cardiff Market.  Cardiff Market is an impressive Victorian structure, which offers a unique shopping experience in the heart of a modern, bustling city. Under one great glass roof you will find a wealth of products ranging from pots and pans to bread and butter, and from nuts and bolts to rock and roll.

Cardiff Market has been trading in one form or another since the 1700s. It has occupied the same site for over 100 years and although you will no longer find livestock tethered and penned outside its doors, some of the old features remain to this day. (http://cardiff-market.co.uk)

How to get to Cardiff Market

Walk from Bus Station

·         Turn right and walk along Wood Street to the Prince of Wales Pub

·         Turn left onto St Mary Street and walk up

·         Cardiff Market is on your left handside
